Whether you simply want to tone up or lose unwanted pounds, getting a beach-ready body requires dedication and hard work. Here are some lifestyle tips that will help you get in shape without torturing or starving yourself while having fun along the way.

Set Your Goals

Identify your problem body areas and be honest to yourself. Do you want to lose weight to stay healthy? If your weight is already in a healthy range, do you just want to tone up? Knowing your goal will help you determine the appropriate exercise and diet options that will work best for you.

Weigh yourself by using a digital scale in the morning before eating anything. Then, determine your ideal weight by calculating your body mass index or BMI. Based on your weight and height, BMI measures your body fat. It is designed to help determine a person’s ideal weight range for a certain height. It can be calculated using a BMI calculator or manually. Either way, it is important to know your ideal weight.

Shed Pounds through Exercises

Start swimming, biking, walking uphill, jogging, and running on a daily basis. These exercises are called cardio-intensive exercises, which help burn calories, improve cardiovascular health, and speed up metabolism. Do any of these cardio exercises for at least 30 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week.

Make Some Lifestyle Changes

Instead of driving, walk to your destination. Do some chores around the house. These activities may sound simple, but these burn calories more than you can think of. Get rid of junk foods and sweets. Learn how different ways things in junk food can influence the body such as how salt affects the body. To curb your cravings, choose healthy options such as dark chocolate, honey, peanut butter, and fruits. Also, avoid alcoholic drinks. These drinks contain calories as much as 700 calories. If you crave for a drink, choose red wine. Also, opt for soda water instead of soda drink or tonic water, which contains loads of sugar.

Eat Smart

One of the most effective ways to lose weight or tone up is to reduce your calorie intake. The required calorie intake depends on your height and weight. To determine your needed daily caloric intake, use a calorie calculator or consult a nutritionist. Consume lean protein-rich foods such as turkey, fish, and chicken, which make you feel full quickly. For vegetarians, choose eggs, tempeh, and tofu.

Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, which are not only rich in essential vitamins and nutrients, but will also help curb your cravings. Moreover, these foods help improve your skin’s appearance, something that you will be thankful for when you get to the beach.
