In a dramatic late-night raid, Bang Lamung police swooped on a major drug operation, arresting two suspects, including a deliveryman dubbed the “pilot” of the trade. The suspects were cornered at 10.36pm yesterday, April 6, in a rented Laem Chabang room, as police swooped in.

Led by Police Colonel Sarawut Nuchanart, the operation unveiled a shocking haul of 5,411 Yaba pills and 71.80 grammes of crystal meth, locally known as “ice.” The accused, 29 year old Anusorn, and 32 year old Suebchat, were promptly taken into custody.

A tip-off from vigilant locals sparked an undercover mission to bust the network distributing drugs across Bang Lamung district.

The trail led officers to the “pilot,” whose task was to ensure the seamless delivery of narcotics. A thorough search of the premises revealed a sizeable stash cunningly concealed in a wardrobe.

During questioning, the main suspect, already marked by past offences, spilled the beans.

“I store the drugs and deliver them to meeting points.”

He added that he earned a modest 500 baht per delivery, which added up to 5,000 baht daily. Facing family pressures and unemployment, he confessed it was the only way he could make a living.

“My family kept scolding me, saying not to be a burden. No one would hire me, so I ended up back here.”

Pol. Col. Sarawut has called for a ramped-up investigation, focusing on dismantling the entire network to cleanse the region of narcotics.

In similar news, Thai polices unearthed a chilling discovery in the early hours of Thursday morning: nearly 2 million meth pills stashed in a graveyard by the Mekong River in Nong Khai province.

The eerie drug bust unfolded at 4am on April 2, when military officers from the Surasak Montri Task Force, led by Ranger Company 2104, swooped in on a notorious smuggling route behind a cemetery in Ban Woen, Mueang subdistrict, Phon Phisai district.

Acting on a tip-off, the soldiers set up a covert surveillance op along the footpath skirting the burial ground — and it didn’t take long before their patience paid off.
